    P38 spare tyre placement

    Hi,

I got a donut LPG tank which now sits in the spare tyre well. At the moment, my spare is sitting flat on the cargo floor.
Has anyone seen, or done to their P38, a mod that allows the spare to be upright like the classic R/R?
Wondering if I can get from Repco or Autobarn type of tyre support which can be bolted to the floor and the tyre is cradled by these supports?
    Any advise is most welcome.

I haven't seen it done before but the LHS contains your subwoofer. The RHS might be possible but I don't know how intrusive the fuel filler neck is.

You'll get nothing from Repco or Autobahn but blank looks - something which they always carry in stock when you mention Land Rover.

Some military trucks have the spare wheel mounted upright & I've seen the odd holder assy on eBay but they're made for pizza cutters, not 255 section tyres.

I don't want to 'intrude' into the sub woofer (mine is gone anyway, so its empty) or other side, my idea is to have the spare tyre sitting upright in front of that area in a cradle like arrangement.
I saw a P38 today with the spare tyre upright, but only in passing so could not really see how that owner did it.

Deacon Auto in Bentleigh do it to their conversions if required. Maybe you could speak to them. Pretty sure its the same as the clasics.

likewise - mine has been sitting on the floor for a while. A rear carrier would be nice but the $$$$

you can make the mount for the right hand side of the boot. thats what happened when i got mine put on lpg. pm me a email address and i'll send you some pics if you want.

i'd love to put a rear carrier on it but that won't happen any time soon.

I have just had a donut tank put in the spare wheel well and I am in the process of completing a spare wheel carrier from bits I bought from PaulP38a. I don't have the option of carrying the spare wheel in the loadspace because I have two dickie seats in there.

I will be doing pics of it as I build it and I will post them here (eventually).
