    Was this in the SE suburbs hills and technically a road kept accessible at all times for bush fire escape?? If it is where I think I am around the corner and crossed it many times in a two wheel drive, it is very easy and normally shallow 400mm and I would have thought it was near impossible to get water in your motor.. How unlucky, but at least it gives you an excuse to modify everything!!!!!! :-).
    Good luck with the outcome and dont let the insurance co try and leave high and dry (sorry it had to be said)

    Been away for a while but,
    Insurance finally paid out.
    Also let me take all accessories off- rear wheel carrier, bull bar, winch, uhf and wheel well seats (dont want seats if any one want to make me an offer).
    Yes the crossing is in harkaway.
    Just bought a 1999 bmw update 4.6.
    Still got to remove acc and fit them.
    I will be fitting a snorkel in the next month or so will post.
