15s, i dont think they will it, even with the backing plates removed. But P38a paul is running 33 x 16 inch maxxis on his 99. He is too chicken to cut the guards and run some real tyres ........

Has anyone here fitted 33 x 12.5 x 15 tyres to their P38A and what did you have to do to make it work properly,
ie modify guards, body lift, suspension lift, any mechanical components, steering etc etc

seen them fitted on a 2 door 76 rangie, but with severe suspension modification. Would love to do it myself to an S1 (just kidding)

Never heard of 15" wheels fitting on a P38A. Even the 16" rims seem to be a bit close to the disc brake shields, but I guess that is due to the thickness of the rims themselves.
As Andrew_e mentioned, I am running 33" tyres on mine - 285/55R16 Maxxis Bighorn on the "pov pack" 16" rims.
My P38A has a 2" lift kit from Hard Range but retains the EAS for better ride and flexibilty on and off-road. On "low/highway" EAS mode I do get some scrubbing on the front wheel arches when turning hard but I'm in the process of fiddling with the EAS height settings to fix this. Maybe I'll cut the guards one day, but I'll be asking Andrew_e to help me
These days I use the 33"s for off-road play and use 265/60 tyres on 18" rims for daily driving.

Hey Paul how much was that 2 inch lift from Hard Range? Was it done with spacers above the standard set up? I have seen they are quoting up to 5" with a Gen 3 and bilstein package and don't want to (or, err... don't actually have any real need to!) go that far (yet!).

Hi Dave - mine was the original 2" lift kit and was on the car when I bought it from the original owner of HRA. I'm not sure that the prototype kit in mine is same as what HRA are now selling. I recently bought some bump stops from them and they seem too long for my setup.
I believe the kit is about $3k and includes the spacers, Gen III air-springs and extended Bilstein shocks, plus instructions! The advantage is that HRA is in Australia and you can call Andrew in Perth if you have a problem. I understand that andrew_e on this forum may also be able to supply this kit on behalf of HRA if you are looking for an East Coast supplier instead.
The 5" refers to the extra travel you get with the Gen III's and extended Bilsteins.
Off-road, I really love this setup, having had a stock P38A previously... then added Gen III's... then added Bilsteins... then drowned the car and had to start again.
On-road, it's a bit agricultural but I've still got a bit of tweaking to do with the heights and cutting down the bump stops a bit more.
