Gen 3 airbags
Gday all,
Where is the best place to get GenIII airbags for my P38 Rangie. Also what sort of price should i be paying for them. I have just had the Valve block and compressor rebuilt but the bags still keep going down and the compressor runs all the time.

Airbagman in QLD have bags, couldn't tell you how much. They are on the
internet. I would start by getting a sauce bottle full of soapy water and squirting it around the air connections and stuff to locate your leak. Very unlikely that all your air springs are leaking, much more likely to be in the valve block, but if you squirt around all the connections and components you will soon see if any are leaking.

Hi,
I used Arnotts in the USA for my D2, speedy delivery and great communication. Try the following link:
LAND ROVER Air Suspension Parts - Range Rover 1995-2002 (4.0 and 4.6) P38A
Cheers,
Pete.

couple of things:
check with local dealer for replacement cost of standard bags or Graham Cooper Landrover in Sydney (St Peters) -they have an excellent delivery service Aust wide.
Airbag man sells the original Dunlop bellows... not sure of the cost. I replaced all bags about 18m ago ...got them thru a local independent here in Bris. The front bags had pistons already fitted and were sealed with a metal hoop top and botton (like the Arnotts product). They were stamped with both the Landrover and Ford logos (apparently they are /were a common part also used on the Ford Explorer. The rears were just the bellows which I had to refit to the original pistons...took about 30 mins fiddling once I got the hang of it. all up total cost was about A$650 -700 for the 4 bags.
The pistons in the Arnotts are a different profile from the OEM ones. As I understand it from extensive coverage in the rangerovers.net site (P38 section), the Arnotts are designed to provide a somewhat firmer ride at highway/standard height but are more supple at extended height. The OEM profile has a firmer ride (supposedly) at extended height and is a bit more supple than the Gen III's at highway/standard height. GenII's are reputedly more in line with the OEM settings. the Arnott offerings are banded top and bottom to prevent leaks and are supposedly guaranteed for life.
The Dunlop OEM versions rely on pressurisation to self seal top and bottom. I assume they only have a 12 month warranty.
Airbag man may be able to assist with the GenIII. I would not expect much change out of A $800-1000 for the set.
hope this helps
cheers

I've been speaking to Arnotts online for the last week or so and have been quoted a rrp of US$824 but can do a deal for $741 + US$160 for delivery which comes to US$961 or AU$1153. Still think i'll support the Aussies though - Hard Range etc. Just waiting for my bonus - damn the GFC!
I've just fitted Bilstiens through Graeme Cooper - what a difference! Stand by for new post...
