Thanks for the concern, fellas. Sorry to not have given more notice, but I didn't know when I'd get my bike back.....:)
It didn't exactly break; after having never washed it, I thought I'd do so to inspect the frame. First, I found a paint chip under the down tube (in front of the BB area) which was in fact a bit of a crater. Then, on the seat mast at the front, I found a 5mm long black mark under the clearcoat in the paint.
I showed it to the dealer - they warranted the frame and I get the new built bike this morning.
I'm not sure if the seatmast thing was just a paint defect or the start of a crack. It didn't creak or sound dull when taped with a coin, but if they want to give me a new one that's fine with me.
I have some carbon armour to apply to the new beast, so stone chips should be eliminated. The new frame also has some heavy duty carbon reinforcement in around the seatmast so maybe Trek recognised this issue.
Ah well - at least you got to test the warranty out, and got a good result :cool:.

Yep - my 2nd experience with Trek's great warranty too. ;) Trek upgraded my XTR brake blocks to the ones with cooling fins! A believe the term is Pimped....:DQuote:
