    New MTB projects

Recently I broke the swing arm on my old full susser so I have been riding around on an old hardtail which I upgraded with a few of the cool bits from the now retired Scott which I have had since 2002. Crossmax wheels etc etc.

Anyway I seem to have got carried away and am now in the process of building up a new full suspension bike and another hardtail. I have been collecting parts over the last few months.

    Currently the builds are.

    Full susser

2013 Banshee Rune v2 medium in yellow
2013 Cane Creek Double air rear shock
    2013 Fox 36 Float 180's (arrived today )

SRAM X0 drive train inc crank set, shifters mechs etc. will be 2x10.
Formula the one brakes with 203mm rotors

    Hope pro 2 evo / Stans flow wheels set - 26". 20mm/142x12.
    Thompson seat post
    Straitline stem
    spank spike bars
    etc etc

Still waiting on the frame and shock on the Banshee. Hopefully by the end of the month I will have it here.. I have everything else.

    And the hardtail.

2007 Norco Bigfoot medium in green (unused frame I found for $90!)
2010 RockShox Pike 454 uturn air (ebay purchase)
Raceface turbine chain set (brand new off rotorburn) will also be 2x10.
Collecting up other parts as I find them on the forums / ebay!
I had been thinking single speed but have gone of the idea as I dont have the legs

(bars, stem and wheels) are for the other bike:

I thought you were English and like all Englishmen would take trees head-on before using any brake except Hope.

Looks like you need a Monocrome Deep Blue BB to continue your colour scheme.
MTB External Bottom Bracket Std Colours - MCEBB001 (Monocrome)

Can do a matching Shockcraft stem cap and valve caps too.

Nice gear, you should give single speed a go, great fun, I've got a KHS Solo one 29 er, hard work around Manly Dam...but a load of fun, teaches you a lot about riding a bike!

    .
It was a hard choice!! I was very torn between the Hope M4 stealths and the Formulas, but the Formulas came up at the right price so I went with them.

I did have hopes on my previous bike and they were basically faultless for 10 years.

Need to spec the hardtail so I may go with hopes on that. Just missed a nice set of Formula R1's on another forum though.

Wll have a look through your site for some more cool parts. the blue colour scheme is for the Banshee. The Norco I will try and keep as much black as I can. I also want to run the front brake line through the steerer if possible.

    cheers
    Pete

    Bar spins.

It's good to see nice bikes with a tasteful parts selection. My next build is a retro FSR MAXX for the wife. Found it in a scrap-metal bin with an awful paint-job.

These wheels are now on the Norco. Wiggle had a 20% off sale so I just ordered another set which arrived today. Hope Pro2 evo with ZTR flow rims.

I will downsize tyres for this one slightly as these are probably overkill, as are the 203mm rotors, but I may stick with those to allow the wheels to be a straight swap between the bikes shoud I total one

Awaiting a Cane Creek 110 headset, a black straitline scc stem (same as this one), and some black handle bars.

Now just keeping an eye out for some cheap drivetrain / brakes.

I used to ride only flat bars, but am now running low risers.

The chrome ones shown are Spank Spike 777 Evo's which are 777mm wide, 15mm rise, with 4deg upsweep and 8deg backsweep.

I am looking at a set of Thomson DH bars at the moment which are 780mm wide, 12mm rise, with 4deg upsweep and 6 deg backsweep for this one.

Both will be cut down as they are too wide really for what I want.

Yeah, same thing here. Most of the bars on sale today can't be wheeled through a normal doorway, let alone threaded between trees at pace.

My main bike has protapers which I think were 27" (685mm) and about right.
