It folds forward over the fridge box and draw bar. That way you can enter via the tail gate area (which I have converted to a swing gate with kitchen attached) via a 3 step ladder. Works very well, you can even put up the tent whilst the trailer is connected to the car.

little bit of progress this evening
bolted the stubs on, used 10mm x 40mm bolts.....should have used 10mm x 30mm and it would have looked neater
cleaned and inspected the second hand hubs and bearings, all good so i greased them and fitted them to the stubs
i forgot to measure the axle prior to fitting the stubs damit, i can only imagine the engineering firm would have got it right, from memory i asked for 1370........its just looks like the 235/85/16 on disco rims are going to sit mighty close to the outside edge of the tub

Roof tents normally have a big flyscreen door at either end. It is just there is a ladder on one end you climb up. Once in, you can unzip the other end and have acces from the tent to the roof, if it folds out that way.
In D'ranged's case, the tent folds forward from the trailer axle over the drawbar. This is the bit the ladder is normally attached to. You then step up inside the tailgate at the other end and access via the other door.
In my case, my roof tent has an extended awning which covers the ladder section and you can zip a room onto. At lower heights you need to duck under this. Not so on alot of other models of roof tent.
