Call it tech if you want. It's been around since before WW2.
IMO it's a crutch for bad boost or intercooling used mainly by those with wrong size turbos or not enough boost. I will never run it. If you have a high EGT problem, then solve it the proper way with more boost and better intercooling.

Tech does not always mean new age ;) this I know was just looking more at the OP point's

All interesting comments, food for thought, getting back to my original post about installing two OEM intercoolers, basically not enough room. There is space between the IC and auto cooler but not enough for another IC of the same size. As all the comments have said, there is scope for improvement, which some have already done with good results.

Interestingly theses are the reasons I went wta. I have a large radiator but it is thin - so I still have room for a/c. But the real strength of wta is the burst cooling you have. When you are going slowly in a FMIC you don't get much cooling. With a wta you do.. How long it lasts depends on how much water you have. In a 4x4 you are less concerned about weight so you can carry quite a bit. I have about 5l and no matter how much I try I can't get it to heat soak.

Mud and crap will block both a wta and a FMIC. Wta radiators are much thinner and generally easier to clean. Also if I get a leak in my wta radiator I can drive home without a boost leak.

I don't know, people get religious about these things. When people have bad experiences with wta it is usually down to poor design and a system that is too small.
