With the thickness of the headling plus the fabric you dont need anything else really, although in you are in the outback some sisalation foil might help.
yeah i didnt even think about the insulation type stuff thats used in sheds. It doesnt make any crinkling/foily sounds while bouncing around off road does it?

I have only the shell material (pressed cardboard or fibreglass) on ours, simply pulled the head lining out, stripped off all the original stuff and backing foam, wire brushed and painted the cabin side surface flat black, re-installed.
Although I thought there may be a heat/sound insulation issue, so far have had no problems with either.
The whole job cost $18 for paint (Supa Cheap spray cans), and 12 months on still looks ok, easy to live with and care for, far superior to the "bagging" look of the original, that definitely will not happen again.
Provides a very practical solution to a common problem.
Just finished mine if I was to do it again I think I would start gluing from the middle and work to the ends so not so much lose lining to control. First half of mine was a disappointing effort on my part and got a few wrinkles but got better as I got to the other end. Luckily the worst is right at the back so hopfully wont be as noticeable. oh and found super cheap had spray glue on special so used 4X 350ml cans to finish. The material is very hard to cut and found soldering iron gives a result for the fiddly bits.
As mentioned earlier ive had bad experience with spray glues. it wasnt the redish kwik grip was it? in the cairns heat the stuff just doesnt dry. if i push it back up in the vs it will stick for about hr then fall down.
handy if i need a roadworthy i guess!
3M do a really really good spray glue can't remember the part number for it but a mate put me on to it, ii used it to carpet my speaker boxes and drawers and they have been going strong for 5 nearly 6 years now
Our Land Rover does not leak oil! it just marks its territory.......
Yeah was quick grip gave it a good soaking of the stuff and let it dry well befor sticking I together. I'm in Ayr so not far from Cairns so will x fingers . If it gives me grief think I will just bite the bullet and get the pros to do it next time.
I hope it was me that just got some Dodgy cans then!
All good to say materials are cheap, but how many hours to do the job once the card has been remove and before installation.
Did mine in several steps probably 2 hrs max
