Very!! Ill be even happier once I've got it all together and it has 500km under its belt. The engine seems to be set up for UK emissions, and there is no smoke under load at all. Add to that the intercooler that I've added into the equation and I think I'll be able to open the pump up half a turn to suit the intercooler. After the first test which was three blasts up a dirt road (a total of about 5km), I'd say it has more get up and go than Bojans borrowed 3.9 V8 had, but instead of running out of go at 88 kph, it wants to continue up and beyond 100kph. I plan to open the pump up until I get a faint whisp of smoke under full throttle and see how it goes then. That said, it seems to boogy now!!

good to see ya enjoying it mate!
Half a turn? thats playin! my screws all the way in with bigger injectors and 45psi of boost (really need Intercooler though) ad mines only a grey trail

Itl be wound right in for the low power output its set for and the tiny turbo... soo much potential awaits!

youl be smiling more when ya do an economy run

A much better plan would be to fit an EGT gauge and tune to that. There should be no smoke at all under full load. If there is you're wasting fuel and power.
An EGT gauge will help you find the spot where you're burning all the fuel you safely can without smoke.

You're running 45psi with no intercooler?

Please tell me you have an EGT gauge!! I can hit ~900C on an Isuzu with no noticable smoke, no intercooler and 20psi.
As boost rises, intake temps rise.
As intake temps rise, EGT rises.

no EGT but using common sense works...

There is no way to measure egt without an egt gauge.
Even if you measured a/f ratio you can still hit dangerous egt easily with no intercooler and no smoke.

    Even at a very lean 20:1 A/F and 20psi boost I can hit 750C.
If you are trailing smoke then you're down around 17:1 and your intake temps at 45psi are about 90 degrees hotter (225C vs 135C).

i know the turbo is good for 35psi without superheating the air, and i know it will hold 30-35psi with no ill affects... rarely push 45 and i dont hold it there

    "superheating air" is a myth.
As you compress air, it gets hotter.
The more you compress it (higher pressure) the hotter it gets.
The less efficient your compressor, the hotter it gets.

A 70% efficient turbo compressor taking in air at 20C and compressing it to 45psi will discharge air at ~225C.

Every degree of heat you put into your intake raises the EGT by about the same amount. Your EGT is about 200C hotter than you think it is.
I cannot stress the importance of EGT measurement enough.

Even at 35psi your turbo is pumping air at around 195C.
