Ok, boost and EGT's aside, I've now covered a few kms locally, and I can say that the gearing is spot on! The thing flies when pushed, and I've given it a flogging to to see if I can trust the welded gear. With the GPS speedo temporarily set up, 100kph is very easily reached, and comfortable, and when pushed the truck continues on to 140kph! Now to cover some kms and see how we go! Thread finished!!

Hi Reece. Yeah, it should be a good box, and having used mine for a while, the Cummins pulls the 5 speed fine as the 101 is light, but a 6 speed would be nice!! Still wish I had the space for an Allison 1000 6 sp auto.... They can be driven like a Powershift!!
hmm big auto would be handy...
Yeah.... You'd need something like an extended 110 to fit this in....... Be nice tho, and they're cheep out of the states... coupled behind the 6BT.. The 5 speed can have a few things changed around and become a 6 speed so Im told...
Just thought Id give a quick update on this... I've now covered 10000+kms with the diesel in the 101, and they've not been gentle either! So far all is still good. A fella called Reece Myres has started making kits modelled on mine. He's in the 'Cummins Land Rovers' group on Facebook if anyone else is keen to fit a 5.9 turbo diesel and ZF box into their 90/110/101.
My 2p:
Reece's kit is well made and affordable making the conversions easier for the majority. Hes included some of Simon's recommendations from his "mk1" conversion and a few updates of his own, including gearbox mounts of my design which make it a straight drop into any defender from 2.5p to 200tdi.
Im using a Simon designed Reece made kit and first impressions are good.

So, I thought I'd give an update on this conversion kit. Reece has now sold countless kits, and there are a lot of Cummins powered Land Rovers running around the UK now with my conversion plate. Reece had drama's with his first few batches of billet gears, but I believe that is all sorted now. The kit uses the 1.003:1 ratio to give the vehicles reasonable road speed. The Cummins Land Rover Group (CLRG) on Faceplant grows in size by day, and I believe there are several Cummins conversions under way here in Oz, and several already on the road, including one here in Adelaide!
I've not heard a thing about the fate of my 101 and it's Cummins conversion, but I do know that it did a lot of distance on and off road with us before we sold it, which proves my theory on the larger diameter shaft being less stressed.
