Thread: Has anyone done a dual evap A/C unit in their Defender?

Have been looking at the various after market A/C, particularly the one by rainman and goingbush but wanting a/c air to the front passengers and screen for defrosting etc. Secondly the D3/D4 etc have dual system A/C with a second evaporator unit in the rear quarter panel. What I have been wondering about is fitting a pair of smaller evaporator units and running them as a dual evaporator system.

The thought was to modify a system to duct air from the passengers footwell into an evap combined with the orignal heater box internals to provide air to the demister system and front seat occupants and then a secondary evap unit in the rear of a dual cab.

Has anyone done anything like this?

I used to run a dual system, but now i've removed the front one as the rear is all I need in a 110. It looks like this:



I've seen these units come up on ebay for about $450. Font and rear were off the same compressor.
