    FYI,

    Mine wasn't that dirty but it's the kind dirt that worries me a little. It was pretty gritty dirt.

    Mousie, do you know what the rubbish in your filter is?
    Looks to be diesel snot/bacteria.
    Some biocide might be in order.

    Mine appeared to be like a rust particles and general dirt here as the majority is sitting on the deck of the tank (not alot) so I put it down to dirt at this time. I'll have to look biocide as know about it but never seen it. Because when you see Joels above, it looks way cleaner and is totally different colours (like two stroke mix to be crude in colour against my blood red dirt).

    Hi guys,

    Does anyone have any feedback on the pumps purchased via the ebay link?
    Have these been tried and tested, or are these just being purchased as a just in case spare.

    This is the only thread I could find on the internet which only replaces the pump and not the entire assembly.

    I am gathering some must carry spare parts for my td5 disco and don't want to fork out $500+/- for the full assembly.

    It would be difficult to say given these only came online in the past year or so. Mind you, I've actually powered mine up and from handling it, gut feel it will certainly do the job long term and then I sealed it up to join the kit. After having one, I'd be happy to install permanently, but then I'd immediately buy another one for the piece of mind.

    Its murphy's second law, if you spend the $100, your pump will never fail!

    my fuel pump is very noisy and will not start when tank is low, will try this as is a lot cheaper option, not keen on cheap Chinese knock offs how long to do the job and is it easy to pull apart?
    disco seriesII mods so far:-bullbar,hyd winch,
    detriot locker,lsd front,C.D.L kit,chipped and bigger intercooler,2" lift,rock sliders, lsd in transfer case, modified auto trans.

    stevo is an easy job. The two difficult parts are just carpet removal to access and clean the top area before attempting removing the pump assembly. 20min to extract taking time and clean first. Your symptom may be just debris in the lower outer pump casing parts as described and designed to hold a higher level float for cooling and reliability when in low fuel levels.

    I ordered one of these pumps the other day and will most likely fit it straight away because I know if mine is going to die it will be at 5am on the way to work! Better to know its new than wait for it to happen.

    Quick update for those interested in this thread.

    My old fuel pump, although working fine started to make a random pitch sounds at idle and I simply didn't trust it for reliable use.

    This ebay fuel pump arrived this week and looks like a decent quality pump. Only difference I can see is there is no metal gause on the pump pickup.

    I fitted the new pump today without drama and I am confident it will serve me well although as Mousie said it would be safer to have another one as a backup in the spares kit. After all 2 pumps is still 1/2 the cost of other fuel pump options.

    For anyone who is new on the tools I suggest you take your time as my fuel sender housing was a little brittle, and the green outlet hose from the pump was stuck on the original pump and took some time to work it loose. Ended up having to trim 10mm off the end because it split on removal. Also don't forget to save the 2 small o-rings from the two side hoses that clip directly to the side of the pump.

    This is a much better option than the $500+ full assembly purchase.
