What size compressor do they come with? Must be a monster to do 16k btu.

It can do about 6kW (5700 BTU/s) of refrigeration at 2,000rpm on R134a. You'd get a little more on Hychill.
But 6kW is still heaps. 5kW holds my whole house at 25C on a 36C day and you'll have decent size coils in the best location. Unlike the factory in-dash.
Ah it's 16k BTU/Hr (4.7kW).

After negotiating a pothole in lifes rocky road I have got a bit more done.
The radiator was worse than I thought.
They wanted $900 to recore it.
I bought a new brass and copper 300tdi for less than half that but then needed to fabricate a crossover pipe as the outlet is on the opposite side.
Compressor is fitted but the new hose ends have quick attatch fittings so wont fit my charge manifold.
Currently waiting on adapters before I can gas it up.
Here is where I decided to run the hoses.
Well its back together.
In the shed at a fast idle the low side is around 30 psi and the high side goes up to 250 when the condensor fan cuts in. Drops to 200 then the fan cuts out.
The compressor clutch cuts in and out as well.
Went for a run yesterday and I was a bit disapointed in the performance.
It seems the same as the Rangie is now with Hi Chill
Anyone know what the capacity of the Rangie aircon is in BTU,s?
On the road the condenser fan does not cut in, only when stopping at a give way sign etc
However the compressor is cutting in and out all the time.
If I was to bypass the control and let it run longer would I not get better cooling?.
This is with the Rheostat on max as well.
It has no show of cooling the whole Disco with the hot afternoon sun streaming in through all that glass.
Perhaps they are just enough for cabs thats all.

Bit disappointing Keith .Couple questions Gas and how much ? Air temp off evaporator ? and is it cooling back to compressor .It does seem a small fan for the condenser which I thought would be better running all the time .I would bridge out the thermostat keeping an eye on air temp off the evaporator and sweating back to the compressor .Bearing in mind I am a dummy regarding AC and still learning

Using Hychill -30.
It did wonders to the Rangie compared to the 134a.
Vacced it, purged it then vacced again. Put the bottle on the scales and when I was watching the gauges it had already sucked in 400 grams, so I might be a bit overcharged.
No sign of bubbles in the sight glass.
Its sweating right back to the compressor and I had a little thermometer in the shed fridge I put in the air outlet and was only getting 15 degrees.
The condensor fan is quite powerfull, one hears it cutting in and it pulls nearly 30 amps. They say to fuse the system with 35 amps.
I wonder if I should bleed a bit of gas out.
I must say your bigger system sounds better

The gauge readings for Minus 30 refrigerant should be approx 150kPa (20 psi) on the low side, and 620- 1200kPa (90 to 180 psi) on the high side, depending on the ambient temperature, good condenser, air flow and an suitably sized condenser - these items contribute to variations in the high pressure gauge reading. On larger commercial systems, pressures can be much lower.
Does sound like to much gas and considering my system only took 300g and is a fair bit larger.The HyChill site has a good trouble shooting section .Maybe just slowly bleed off till you finish up with those pressures
