I have recently bought a 2006 Td5 110 Defender (named Lara by the previous owner). It is mostly built as a touring vehicle and in 2012-13 it completed a trip from Malaysia to England via Cambodia, Nepal, China, Mongolia, Russia, Kazakhstan etc by the previous owners. I intend to document the modifications and improvements already fitted along with the additional work I do on it to help out others thinking of doing similar work.
I'm sure this has been done before but this evening I fitted a clear lens cover (from a friends 130 that he no longer needed) as a replacement for the red fog lens as standard. It means that you need the headlights on and the fog button pressed in but usually the headlights will be on when extra light is needed for reversing and pressing the button when needed is easy for double the light. One of the quickest and easiest mods I've done so far.

Today I broke my rear left halfshaft doing a hillclimb. It was a clean break with no other damage sustained.
Once I pulled it down I could get the broken piece out. For some reason the diff doesn't look stock to me. Can anyone let me know if this is a stock diff and if not what has been modified? In the receipts that came with the car I found one for "supply and fit reae salisbury maxi drive". Is that what I have? In which case do I need maxi drive halfshafts/flanges?

What do your drive flanges look like? Is there anything stamped on the ends of your half shafts?
I don't know much about diff centres, but yours looks a bit like the auto lockers I have been eyeing up. But weren't maxi drive into vacuum operated lockers? (Edit: just noticed the vacuum line on the job sheet) Is there a box welded on top of your diff housing? I think on the long axle tube. Do you also have a button on your dash that says rear locker or rear maxi drive?
For reference, here is my stock Salisbury
I was thinking why wouldn't you have upgraded the half shafts when putting the locker in?
I'm sure someone with a ton more experience then me will swing by and tell you straight off the bat.
Sorted it out thanks mate. Turns out that receipt is actually from the previous owners older defender (hence the salisbury diff listed) and he's accidently included it with the car i bought.
I have now fitted a set of maxidrive axles
Yeah no worries, I read your other thread and kicked myself because I didn't realised that it was a p38 diff haha.
This is the middle draw setup that came with my car when I bought it. I believe it is made by Tanami. It doesn't have any labels or numbers visible but it has the same design as the rear draw (I will post about soon) which has a 'Tanami 4WD' badge. I'm not sure if they make it as a premade product or they have custom built it to fit my car but either way it is an extremely well designed and built setup and is one of my favourite parts of the car.
It is built with thick aluminium panels along with stainless fittings and runners.
There is one halflength draw on each side
The rubber mat is great for dirty items including dogs after a day at the beach
The section behind the draws is a great spot for spare parts
The doors need the extra wide opening kit so they open to a full 90?. The window windows need to be left horizontal to allow the draws to open
I use the space below the draws for a shovel, hilift jack etc

Those draws look like a sweet setup, looking forward to photos of the rear draw.
That space underneath would be good for one of those flexible water bladders. Just a thought.

Would be a great spot for water but I've already got 100L sill tanks with water so pretty right for water capacity.
