I collected the roof sheet in 3mm ally tread plate for the crate and some 4mm composite for the walls and doors on Monday as well so I will be making some more progress on that over the next few days.

Some more work this week and today on the pod - I needed to put some more cross bracing on the base this week in order to support the 9mm ply a bit better.
Ply floor screwed in place and secured with m4 countersunk screws and rivnuts

Coming up very nice. I may have missed it but what are you planning exactly with the pod?

Basically the 130 has a couple of purposes, farm vehicle and tourer. The pod is to facilitate the touring bit by giving us a secure space to fit all our gear.
It's amazing how much stuff you can fit in a station wagon, the previous vehicle was a Disco 3 and we quickly discovered that you can't fit all the stuff that we used to carry in the back and on the roof on the 130 tray.
I'm not sure where the design will end up but the basic premise is to carry all our stuff for a trip to Maralinga in July. I have a drop slide to fit and I need to make space for food containers etc so I'll see what the interior design looks like when I'm done.....

Another little present turned up in the mail from Paddocks this evening - X-Trouser door strikes. No more ripped pants hopefully.....

Fitted to the sound ringing in my ears from SWMBO (who drives a Wrangler) Gee you need to make a lot of modifications to a Defender to make it usable don't you.....

Some more progress made, Centaflex hinges fitted and the frame for the door welded up. I found that the sika wasn't strong enough to resist the tear forces when the door was shut so both the frame and the door have a rivet every 20 cm or so inside the hinge.

One of the locks fitted, the plastic covering still needs to be peeled off the panel.

Other lock fitted and the protective film removed.

Looking good!
How do you plan to get it on/off?
Any idea what it would weigh at this point?
How are you going to secure stuff inside? Some sort of frame/storage or just piled in and tied down?

Up until we put the roof on it was pretty easy to slide on and off and rest on the saw horses in the shed.
The plan is to sink 4 posts into the ground and slide it off on some rails in a similar manner to how you would remove a stock crate.
I'm still figuring out how I'll divide up the inside. We used a couple of 54 litre recycling crates for a lot of the stuff we carried in the Disco so I'll stack a couple of those. I have a fair bit of composite panel left over so it should make good shelving, I'm thinking of a divider and a couple of shelves across the back to carry tent poles, chairs etc and possibly some shelves for food containers.
