Nothing wrong with a bike rack like that and won't destroy the forks provided you don't have them sitting on the stanchions, or if you do have them padded for protection.
These style racks aren't popular over here for some reason but go over to Canada and you will see them everywhere.
From the photo, I reckon it would be getting close to the max legal overhang limit (60% of wheelbase, measured from rear axle in VIC). linky here
Worth checking....

I've arrived at this party a little late but just read the thread with interest.
Would be very interested in a pair for the 130, perhaps a combination of water & diesel.
I had a pair of LRA tanks fitted to a couple of different Rangies over the years, cost a lot of cash at the time. A few things about transferring fuel from my experiences;
The sill tanks I had were bigger than the main tank (had underfloor LPG) and forgetting to switch off the transfer pump meant losing fuel through the breather. There was an amber LED on the fuel gauge to tell you the pump was on- no help at all.
You can't rely on hearing the transfer pump change note, with a lot of outback touring you can't hear anything but corrugations.
You need a loud, intermittent beeper or similar- intermittent so it doesn't just become part of the background noise. Once a noise is on for a few minutes, you don't notice it.
My wife would not be interested in holding a switch on during transfer!
Chipping away, bit more done.👍

Work looks great! Keep up the progress!
I take it that the metal shapes you're making now will be used as some kind of mould for the finished plastic tanks?
It's looking great.
Coming along nicely since i was up there with alien.
Just thought I'd give you all a bit of an update as it's been a while. I was planning to have a tank done by Christmas but the plastic workshop has closed already and won't be open until the end of January, bugger. At least it will give me time to do the finishing touches on the mould. It is looking good, can't wait to punch one out, sorry it's taken so long. been crazy busy, so we are going away up the high country for a few days before Christmas to try relax a bit.
Cheers , Andrew

Super excited for these!
I know you are a long way off it, but any idea of pricing for a 110? Just need to start squirreling money away so that it doesn't disappear all at once and raise suspicion!!
