Colour sanding
Another coat, wet on wet.
I'll colour sand the runs out
The inspector has arrived
Colour sanding
Lesson for today-
Colour sanding satin sucks.
By the time you've got rid of the orange peel and created a flat surface your starting to bring up the gloss and a murky finish, polish out the murky finish more gloss more imperfections.
So another coat hopefully without the runs.
Well at the end of the day for a while it will look like a loved rover
So any imperfections will just blend in and look normal after a while
Any way loving the build keep the updates coming
Well that went well.
My spray gun was being uncooperative and not putting out much paint, so pull it apart and try again, same result.
Try other spray gun with air leak, no good . Try to patch air leak , no good.
Retry 1st gun with another disassemble and clean, no good.
Paint starting to go off, no good.
2nd gun with air leak filled with 2 part epoxy and heaps of tape, pretty poor finish but I didn't waste the paint.
Pulled down the first gun , 3000 grit on the pins, blow out orrifices and a light hone with the 3000 grit on a drill bit reassemble and with a pot of dirty thinkers it's working perfect.
Poor maintenance, I must stand in the naughty corner now.
I liked the contrast panel colour for bonnet and roof.
When I painted my boat it had a slight orange peel finish - my first paint job. I always thought of it as being "textured".
89 Orange Rangie UTE - our play thing - sadly now sold
75 Rangie/Series/Hybrid - Bumblebee with a sting!!!!
2012 RRS - The new touring vehicle
Sikaflex for the vent covers
Once the bonnet went on a lot of imperfections disappeared as there's other things to look at.
Once the spare wheel holder thingy goes in I think it will look right.
I'm not 100% on the colour but it's easy to change.
I have to remind myself what it will look like after a couple of hard trips
