    Draw Build

    Hi Guys,

I have plenty of time before new car arrives so I thought I would investigate a Drawer Build. There is a lot of material around the traps on Materials to use etc. I have chosen to Use Queblok Aluminum. Its extremely light weight and very strong. At this stage I will be using Marine ply for the Draws and Fascia. I went into Bunnings to look at 25.4mm Tubing, and Draw Slides they had. Well the Tubing was so expensive and the Slides (not the ones I wanted) gave me an indication of Weight. I had no idea the Slides were so heavy. I mean heavy. So I have about 80% decided to use Needle Roller Bearings. Similar to

The Qubelok I have now sourced from Tony ( 0408 062 496 ) at Buy Fly Wire Mesh, Chicken Brooders and Treadle Feeders in Australia. I hope he doesn't mind me giving out his no. Tony has been nothing but helpful and the price was amazing.

Planning ahead Lee, pity you can't really build anything until you get the vehicle.
    I'm jealous!
Looking forward to seeing how you fit out the D5.

You may find the Bunnings equivilant fittings - Connect-it to be somewhat cheaper. And sourcing the Al tubing directly from an Aluminium supplier (Capral for instance) will be cheaper still. But of course, the choice of your supplier is for you alone to decide. There may be more to it than just price.

    Hi Rich and Ferret,

Rich very much planning ahead. I have been reading peoples drawers and thought I can do that. or at least give it a red hot go. I have a folder with heaps of ideas. So hardest part will be settling on 1 idea. I do like the slide out top.

Ferret I did look at connect-it at bunnings but they were dearer than tony.

Building the frame.... how hard can it be. LOL2017-03-17_23-01-40.jpg

Qubelok 2 way cross ex your web site - $2.50, Connect-it 2 Way Corner ex Bunnings web site - $1.52
Qubelok 3 way corner ex your web site - $3.00, Connect-it 3 Way Corner ex Bunnings web site - $1.84
Qubelok 5 way corner ex your web site - $4.00, Connect-it 5 Way Corner ex Bunnings web site - $2.09
Qubelok 6 way corner ex your web site - $4.50, Connect-it 6 Way Corner ex Bunnings web site - $2.24

I have tried both when fitting out the back of my D4. Bunnings are cheaper and they sure appear the same to me.
