Sometimes you get an idea worth sharing..
We recently bought a nice campervan that needs extended mirrors. The off the shelf ones are a "fit all" type & despite constant adjusting keep slipping- I cant justify a big $$ spend on dedicated Defender Mirrors so came up with this concept.
My camera tripod decided to shed some bits some time ago from one leg & defied all attempts at repair, but I kept it for reasons unknown.
So I cut down the two good legs & made some extension arms.
Benefits are-
Just the mirror head needs removing when not needed, the arms when retracted don't protrude any more than the existing mirror so can stay there.( Last Pic)
Much quicker -one wingnut- to remove/re install.
Mirror head ( unless knocked) doesn't need adjusting upon putting back on.
Infinitely adjustable outwards.
Rock steady & durable ( I think).
The head can be vertical or horizontal.
Pictures tell the story, I could araldite & use a hose clamp, but cable ties are pretty good.
