Perhaps you could add one of Automobile Gauges : Auber Instruments, Inc., Temperature control solutions for home and industry EGT gauges which have a switched output that could turn on your sprayers when the intake / exhaust hits a certain temp.
Might take your performance mod out of the super cheap category though!
Most of my own projects start in the 'this won't be too expensive' but end in the 'hide the receipts' category
For instance, this sounds like a fun project, and I have some left over irrigation fittings and an Auberin EGT gauge. And my Isuzu 120 does have an aftermarket turbo. But sadly no intercooler. And the easiest place for the intercooler to go would be to replace the crossover tube, so probably will need a puma bonnet to fit that. My spare tyre sits on the bonnet, so will need a roof rack to relocate it. It's a wolf rim with a 255/85 muddie on it so better buy an alloy if I'm to have any hope of lifting it onto said roof rack. Also, windscreen washer pump is broken. Plus its tank is small. I do have a 120l water tank under the tray with a pressure pump so maybe I could plump that up? 'Course, I'd need a solenoid then too. So, where are we? Intercooler+puma bonnet+roof rack+alloy rim+solenoid=
