Rebuilding the red Rover jack

I had a 2nd jack. I tried to use it last year and it wouldn't pump the first stage up .... Lesson learned, I didn't persist. I tried it again on a different day and it worked fine. I'm guessing dependent on the ambient temperature, they seals stick inside the two cylinders.

That is entirely possible. I don't think the two jacks I have here are bent though. They worked perfectly until they didn't ... and the remaining still works depending on the weather I think (seriously the weather... so how swollen the seals are).
