    my rear storage

well a little while ago i decided i wanted to have some subs in my car,

and when thinking about putting subs in my car and where to put them i also decided that i would like some sort of storage as well....especially being as though i decided to put the subs in the dickie seat area (thanks pedro) i had lost the only bit of storage in the back i had when the dogs where in the boot....

so i decided to make a storage area.......now i no its not as flashy as some of the ones you guys have made but my excuse is its my first attemp and i'am a girl and should really be cooking and cleaning not making draws for the car.......but i do enjoy getting my hands on the power tools so thought i would give it ago.

so here it is in the plain form

as you all may know i posted a topic about finding carpet for the back of the disco that would relativly match what was already in the car well i got some (thanks tusker)

covered the speaker boxes with it and all the other bits

its a tiny bit lighter than the car but the best match i could find as you can see by the pic the front is missing so its not quite finished yet as i'm yet to buy a handles for it

i used th boxes for ease but i may later on down the line actually make a proper draw for it but the boxes fit snug so they will do for now.....oh and i put a accessorie socket in as well in the top left corner.

and before you say anything i'm working on getting rid of the nissan badge on the rockford fosgate subs

so there you have it itsnot fantastic but hopefully for the moment it will serve its purpose, the purpose being to have a set of subs in the rear of the car and to keep a bit of storage and it all to stay neat and tidy

    thanks

Looks fantastic, very cool speaker grills. Ive been planning something similar. Where did you get the alloy tubing to make the frame?

brought the speaker grills from the uk i think or may of been the states as all i could find was those horrible black ones that covers the entire speaker and looks like a grill you can cook on the only thing is the grils i have are for 10" subs and i'm only runnig 8"s but i still think they look ok

the alloy for the frame we brought from a steel supplier its, actually still got heaps in the shed, used cube lock fittings with it but god be warned i had to file all the cube lock fittings down as if you force it in which you can it can split the metal and make it arkward to line your frame up, but i found by filing the fittings down it gives you more room for error and is still strong as i rivited it.

the spring loaded clips on the side are not great but will do till i find something better there just there to stop the draw sliding out

Looks good. I like the Land Rover emblem. It's a nice touch.
My only concern is it looks a bit light weight and having heavy things on top of it may bend or break the top cover over time. How big are your dogs?

Where did you get the carpet from. I want to re cover mine (although mine has a grey interior). My draws looked great when I bought the car but the material covering them is a bit lightweight for my abuse.
