You can only increase tyre size by 15mm, IF YOU DONT GET IT ENGINEERED.

If you get it engeneered you can go as big as the engineer will allow. Many engineers will allow 35" although mine will only allow 33".

I can't sse the point of spending all the money on engineering and then not get the tryesa s big as possible.

Yes i agree with you that it can be certified by an enginee in VIC but not in QLD:coplight:.

Qld Transport will not allow anything over 15mm,qld has not addopted the NCOP yet!!!

Ok, well I could not find any info on it.

But, before you go much further I reckon it would be worth hearing from some other Qld'ers out there who have modified there cars. I still just can't belive that 15mm would be the limit, I know QLD is backwards but it cant be that bad.

theres a lot of tyre shops out there that will sell you anything that you what to put on but theres others that will only allow a 2" over the placard, but its all illegal. Ill post the email for Qld trasport on moday(its at work)

I do believe you, I am just wondering if there are legal loopholes etc.

There are many trucks in 4WD monthly hwich are running larger tyres, Roothy for one. I don't believe many of these guys would do things illegally, but no idea how they did it??

Queensland is backwards! Thats why I dont live there any more....The only thing that bothers me is that a car in NSW that is engineered for 33" or 35" is ILLEGAL in Queensland....how is that going to go for insurance?

I have 33's on my Rangie and I know its illegal, but put simply I don't care. I consider my Rangie a hell of a lot more roadworthy that most of the ****boxes that are registerd up here in QLD. I wouldn't drive my Rangie if it was unsafe and I'm very cautious and drive my Rangie to suit the extra height, tyre size, etc.. In saying that I don't drive it like a WRX for example:eek:

I'm not a qualified mechanic, but I know my Rangie back to front and I wouldn't risk driving it if I felt that something was dangerous or not done right (I've had a few incidents with professionals, one time I had one place that forgot to tighten up one of my brake calipers, luckily I hjeard a clonking noise when braking and sorted the problem out. I would have hated for thios to happen at 100 k's on a major road, I migtn't be here now :(:(:()


15mm over is the limit sadly is it, that would make many tracks unaccessable up here and would be limited to sook trips. like to play hard and would give 4WDing away if I couldn't :mad::mad::mad::mad:

All the hard tracks in Vic are almost impossible without 35's especially after the jap boys with their biggest is best attitude - mind you need 35" on those overweight/oversized lumps.

That's an interesting comment you make there loanrangie. I remeber years ago in Vic when I used to go wheeling with dad (before I got a license, I was in QLD when I was legally allowed to drive and mised out on some proper 4WDing in Vic :(:(), he had 31's on his old 2 door Rangie. Went most places and occasionally got stuck due to what you mentioned about tosser Nissan/Toyota mentalities with there bigger is better attitude even back then :mad::mad:.

I rememeber saying long ago that I wouldn't go past a 31 tyre, but now places that 31's used to get me you need 33's and even now it can bring me undone at some places such as 'Cruiser park, etc..

What I like about those luimps, is that they grade the tracks, so where they plow.... I drive. :cool:
