    !st idea i thought of, but now that i've fitted the tank i cant be fagged pulling it out and then have to clean it, to weld it...

    You could start with a float switch from RS Components. Not too expensive. I'm using a similar one on my low coolant alarm.

    This is a cool idea. My 2a has two of these side tanks.. one on each side with no main tank - excellent ground clearance

    There is a valve that lets me select left or right tank.. but it is currently a petrol 186. I'm pretty sure that this system won't work with a diesel so this feeder idea is perfect
