Haven't seen one. My Kaymar wheel carrier uses the pin - its attached via a light cable and has worked well since 1997.
I was looking at a T@#$%a the other day with a Kaymar (or similar) rear step and it had a gas strut to hold it open.
Has anyone tried this? It looks simple and putting the pin in is a pain and they get lost all the time.

I've got a custom wheel carrier which had a self locking pin but people tried closing it with the pin in place and keeped bending it, which finally broke one day when i needed it most.rear step and it had a gas strut to hold it open.
I have replaced it with a strut (falcon bonnet) and have gone through 2 now. its due to letting the tyre open by its self, or if it slips out of your hand and breaking the strut ends off. im having to make sure that i put my body on the line by making sure that im in the way when opening it. pain in the rear if your in a hurry or if its covered in dust or mud.
im still thinking on a replacement way of holding open the carrier, if anyone comes up with something lets us know.
