    Defender Battery Box...

    Hi All,

I thought some pics of my auxillary battery system might be iteresting for some...

I've built a box that sits just behind the cargo barrier that can hold 2 x Deep Cycle batteries.

I've then run a main charge feed down from the starter battery, along the top of the chassis (in duct) and then back in through a hole with a rubber grommet up into the battery box. This is protected by a Mega Fuse at both ends.

The isolator is then mounted in the battery box where it connects to the two auxillary batteries in parallel.

All the accessories in the back then run off a fuse box also mounted in the battery box. I've put a couple of Hella sockets on either side of the box as well as an Engel socket.

I've also run another feed back from the auxillery batteries into a fuse box under the front passenger seat to power accessories in the front of the vehichle. This is also Mega fuse protected at both ends.

To top it all off my most recent addition is a CTek charger adaptor hard wired into the system so I can easily plugh in my CTeck charger at any time to keep the whole thing topped up.

    thanks

Heat doesn't seem to have been a problem - I've got a couple of holes in the sides as handles so I guess it can vent through them.

I got the mega fuses from Battery World. Jaycar also stock them.
