I got this off Warn sometime back.
Gday
Just in the process of rebuilding my Warn Winch. I thought is was an M series 8000 lb jobby. But I cant seem to find the blow out diagram of it on the Warn website
Warn Industries - Replacement Parts
Now I need the Part Number and the Serial Number right?
I take it my Part Number is 16664?
And serial number 92371?
So why do none of these numbers match the website
Had a closer look its a M8000 DI
Thanks
Jock

Well well
Just finished pulling it all apart, still covered in grease, petrol and CRC
I am seeking a learned opinion
Take a look at the pictures and tell me your thoughts
Me thinks by the time I replace all the stuff it would be cheaper to just get another winch?

Was that thing still working?! Gees...I have been putting off servicing mine...dont think I will put it off much longer...
Hey,
That IS a mess Jock!
A few weeks in a kero bath will HELP, but I think that after you replace the planetaries that look like they have some siezed gears and the shafts are rotating in the housings and the pinions and possibly even the ally housing that looks eaten away, then yes, maybe another winch would be a good idea?? A chinese copy would do the job OK, as long as it gets serviced regularly then I would go that way.
RIP Warn 8000
The Isuzu 110. Solid and as dependable as a rock, coming soon with auto box😊
The Range Rover L322 4.4.TTDV8 ....probably won't bother with the remap..😈
Yeh was working sort of
Yeh I got all the gears spinning easily after using a whole heap of CRC and a petrol bath
But there is a fair amount of slop in them all
So think I may save the pennies and start looking for another Warn. Just sold that other one I had to Hal
Always thought Id never need a winch but I used that Chinese one twice when it was on. And was glad I had it. Now me and my mates to a bit more 4WDing it comes in handy, especially when one of them drives a Rodeo
Thought I might give these fellas a call after the Christmas break and get someone to check it out up there maybe

Decided I might just put it back together and see how much longer it lasts.
Asked someone the other day what type of grease to use, they told me; and I forgot it I remember it was something like Molly Grease but cant remember the proper name
So what type of grease do I use?

I think the guys that rebuild winches use a Marine grade grease. Those contacts on the cables would have to be holding the winch back a bit too, wouldn't be getting anywhere near the juice it would need.
moly= molybdenum disulphide grease
Well spent a bit more time on it today.
Ended up using LMM Grease (most likely the stickiest most awful grease to get all over yourself ) :
Gearbox filled and back together:
Had some heavy duty wires left over from the dual battery setup so swapped them with the stuffed ones in the solenoid box. They are a heavier wire but that shouldnt matter should it?
Just a quick question as well; if I were able to get my hands on a Warn 9000LB winch without the solenoids, would I be able to use the solenoids from my winch?
Also decided, its too expensive to buy a new motor so Ill just get the original rewound
Thanks
