I couldn't help but notice the username - I used to use Tallgrass Technologies tape backup/hard drive units many, many years ago. (I still have stuff on tape but I can't find a compatible drive I can use to get the data back. )

sorry about the accessibility data. you can tape drives here for cheap but you probable also have drier and OS issues and data compatibility issues too.i am sure people due it but they do not seem to let the 411 out.

lots of fabrication work to make the bodies cross mount, and you will have to drop some inches out of the tub of the series to make it fit over a disco chassis.

extensive firewall mods foot plate and tunnel mods as well as seat box.

brake master and clutches and the like will need work but its not insurmountable and you will run into some hassles routing the steering gear due to the series running a relay box under the front and using a pushrod from the steering box which is mounted on a panel support member..

fun and games with the radiator mount up and the usual routine is to put a defender/county radiator bulkhead and bonnet in to make room for the v8/tdi but the tdi can be made to work with the standard bulhead positioning with some reworking of the fan and shroud, namely get rid of them and fit a thermofan.

Good luck if you want to retain the aircon, your best bet here is to naff it and fit a converted york type reciprocating compressor that becomes your aircompressor.

Here is an easier way of doing the conversion. Also, use a Defender steering column, Master cylinder etc into it.

thanks... i figured there would be metal work which is a ok. i think i need pics so i can visual it. i guess i am surprised with all the documented web pages on everything from harnessing hippie love rays ect. to converting a corvette into a ferrari i thought this would have been common.
