Nice ideas Murray. Looks like you've got yourself a new business venture!
Thanks for all the positive comments guys. I can't believe that I started this project a year ago.
I have made some minor improvements to the design, and I'm just about to get some components laser cut.........to improve quality and appearance, and to save me a :censored: load of fiddly work and time.
I'm hoping to get some carriers made over the next several weeks. It's a busy time of year, but I'll try to fit them in around everything else.
And just to punish myself even more..........I have just drawn up plans for a wheel carrier to go on the back of a 130 crew cab. As far as I know, there are no carriers available for the 130, so I'm keen to come up with something.
Cheers, Murray
Murray,
Waiting for your reply. Do you have one for a Defender 110 1990 CSW?
Watching intently for the 130 spare wheel carrier as mine has just broken for the third time.
Congrats on a great bit of gear and a well documented build

I want... no, need one! Much respect. Elegant design and beautifully executed.
So how do I get on the list for one?
My appologies for not keeping up to date with this thread, but as I suggested above, time is not something I have enough of at the moment............
Turning this............

Into this, is taking longer than I had hoped.............

And this doesn't help either........not serious, but enough to slow things down for 2 or 3 weeks. :(

Having said all that, I have managed to get one new carrier finished for a Puma, and just freighted it last week. This is the first one including the changes I made to the design, so I’m looking forward to feedback from the owner after it’s fitted so I can confidently build some more.
Price wise, it’s looking like $850 including powdercoat, plus freight.
So, as soon as my thumb is mobile again I should be able to get some work done.
Again, sorry for the delay. If you are able to take pictures of the rear cross member and back door of your vehicle, that would be helpful as there are different size mounting plates on the doors of various models and some variations in the chassis/body mounts.
Contact through this thread at this stage is fine. I’m on here regularly. As said above, pictures are good if you can.
I managed to get a prototype built for a 130 over Xmas and while I was waiting for the laser cutters etc. When I get time, I will start a sepperate build thread for it, but here’s some pics to give you an idea what I’ve done.

I feel I must appologise to all who have shown an interest in the wheel carriers.
To quote what I just posted in another thread.........
Cheers, MurrayQuote:
I do intend to put some more carriers together, but it probably wont be for some time unfortunately. I just have too many other things taking priority at the moment.
I would like to be doing them now, but I simply can't find the extra time I need.
I appreciate your interest. Sorry I can't help you out just now, but I look forward to getting back on to them as soon as I can.
I'd also like to put my name for one, but I'm happy to wait until you have enough time to fabricate more.
Mine is an 02 Defender.
I may be interested next year , I have a 2002 defender 110 wagon. just got to finish and pay for the other jobs first.:D
P.s Why is this not a sticky on the verandah/suppliers thread?
