Just as a thought, why not wire the relay controlled by the timer in parallel to the UP side of the window switch and set the timer for say 5 seconds. That way when you turn the ignition off it would automatically close the windows any way.
Could also put a switch in the circuit for when you want to leave them down on purpose though :D
The dash is pretty easy,
Centre console...Take the two screws out from near the radio. then grab hold of the dash up the top near the A/C vents and give it a good tug. There are six clips that hold the thing on and they take a bit of force to get out. just have a little faith. after you get it out just remove all the plugs from the back (take a photo) and your done. (the plug on the hazard switch is a bit of a bitch)
Instrument cluster isn't to hard, remove the cover the sits just above the steering wheel arm, (I also removed the cover around the steering wheel that has the wipers, indicators and ignition inside however I'm not sure that you have to.) then remove the instrument cluster, its held on by some screws and another two of those clips.
After that, to get the whole dash off, well not all the way off but out a few inches so you can get in behind it...
there are three screws at the top near the windshield, and a whole pile of smaller screws around the foot wells, just remove them all and it kind of wiggles free.
Hope that made sense...
Foz,
As for winding the windows up automatically when the ignition goes off, I must admit I didnt think about it, but I'm pretty happy with how it is now. Time will tell.
