ps the leyland lads were probably being paid to rubbish the other brands, just like that so n so who recntly came back on the airwaves,,.
The old CJ6 jeeps weren't all that flash.3spd gearbox, weak front end etc etc.They were quite capable while they stayed in one piece,but tended to fall apart before they reached the end of the production line.I never saw them actually do much offroading in them on film either.Quote:

Also enjoy other members experiences over the years. I don't mind the past quotes as relevant to the period of time.
On over loading and breakage, if you look at the films and the now rear diff, it has a sals:angel: Quite a tough unit and would have been expensive in its day. Not sure if Leylands fitted it etc.
Most of all, Mal is now very interested in the vehicles future.
There is a lot more to this as our local editor made contact with Mal and Lorain. May involve a book if we find the nerves to have a crack.

On designer stuff, is a hard call, was painted AFAIK, but thinking sticker would be easier with this partial restoration as may have to replace the door skins if I bugger up wile removal and repairing the frames.
Another good member has offered a 6cyl bulk head to help repair this one.

I am currently scanning a lot of my old slides. I came across this one, which may be of interest to those looking at this thread. It was taken in the camp I was in charge of in 1966 in the middle of the Simpson Desert.
