Discovery TD5 Exhaust modification

Thanks for sharing. I like free ideas :D

I have been thinking I'll remove the cat at some point as I've read it helps a lot with the turbo lag/spooling.

Personally I'm not sure I like the turbo whistling sound myself, but that's just me :(

bang for buck, this is the best mod for any TD vehicle. On the Td5 it make a big difference in reducing turbo lag and EGT.

Naks, he's done a "Sound Mod" not the muffler mod...;)

There wont be a noticeable difference in EGT or spool time.

He's just made it sound nicer for him :cool:

What sort of improvment are we talking about,
i have a TD5 Defender and i have been looking at removing the muffler (Centre) but was unsure due to actual improvment that i would expect.

I'm not sure if it makes as much for the fender as they have a cat converter also and the disco's don't... but i could be wrong, i know that it hardly makes and difference to sound.

Also for all, since i have been driving it with the new exhaust, i think it has actually made the spool a tad better.

Not true...

Getting a Cat vehicle was dependant on the build day... I've even seen new 04 vehicles without Cats....

Cats muffle it like mad...

Non Cat vehicles are sweet! A nice growl....

As i dont have a cat converter in mine:D, so the orginal question still stands what performance improvment is expected?

Marginal improvement in spool up time and associated throttle response improvement.

Marginal fuel economy improvement is possible (depends on how u drive)
