My R1 never went above 299 on the speedo.

    Yes, we saw 431km/h

I just came across this video about magnetism and mag-lev. It's old but quite interesting (to me. at least).

Re his demonstration of aluminium and magnetism, I recall an experiment we did at tech when I was training with DCA to be a radio tech in the mid-Sixties.

We tossed a disc of aluminium between the horns of a magnetron (a radio microwave "valve" used in radar - also used in microwave ovens). The magnetic field between the horns (that's what the magnets look like - a bull's horns) is quite strong. When the disc hit the field, it shot out the other side at a very high velocity. One wouldn't have wanted to be on the receiving end of that.

The horns were something like this one:

The Katana is governed electronically to 263km/h but it gets there nice and quick.

I've ridden a Busa to 299 before - again governed

Or truly alive The fastest I've travelled without flying.

They don’t tickle if they hit the neck, but you’re tucked in a fair bit to get there. During the black dog ride the other week I was struck in the left kneecap by a golf ball sized rock at a fair pace. Had the limp and bruise for a week. The fastest I've travelled without flying.

D4 at the limiter handles beautifully. You were nearly there! A fully decked out 3.4t TD5 Defender at $1.60 is quite exhilarating.

Have to say the car was incredibly stable a v quiet..so quiet two sleeping passengers never knew about it and still don't 😃

Issue was an annoying V8 Jeep that tried to run me out of road..but clearly he had waaay more legs/bigger aggits than me🤤
