    RRC Ignition problem

Hi folks, my 1986 3.9EFI dual fuel rover cuts out after initial start up and idling for a couple of minutes, then will not restart (no spark) BUT....if I run a wire from the positive on the coil to the right hand (blue wire) connection on the ignition amplifier it seems to re-energise the ignition system and car starts again no problem. Then after a few minutes will promptly cut out (again!) and not re start unless I do the wire trick. Hmmmmm!
Rather annoying and my local mechanic can't fix it. Have replaced the ignition amp, the coil and the pick up in the distributor. Any ideas very gratefully received, I'm no expert so please idiot proof your replies
    Thanks Andrew

I'd be looking at the ignition switch .............................. and double checking the fuses

Which ignition module setup are you using? Original Delco (box under the coil) 1986, Lucas module on side of distributor, or late model D1 remote Lucas module? All of the above I have replaced with Bosch modules.
