    I currently have a D1 98 300Tdi....

And have been reading this to see why i should go to a range rover (i will make it diesel)

Seems silly to get an older car but you guys are slowly convincing me its the way to go.

Kind of hard to explain, despite the fact they're the same chassis and drivline (apart from the tdi engine).

I also have a Disco too whilts they'res also a great unit, the rangie just has that character and class that the Disco sadly lacks. I prefer the smoother ride of the Rangie to the Disco and I feel the Disco is a bit cheap and nasty in compariaion. I also feel more comfortable off-road in one without that heavy roof and alpine window set-up and the mechanno style build, easy to fix as well as cheap to buy and repair.

I agree. Last rover I had was a D1 as well and it was a completely different car. It was a V8 auto but it rode and handled very differently to my RRC.

If I had a choice, it would definately be the RRC. Rides nicer and has an unmistakable style that the D1 just couldnt pull off....and if I drop a spanner in the engine bay, I know it will hit the ground

    * I cant go past the 2 doors styling, so cool the new ones gone retro.
    * Surround sound provided by the beautifully gutless V8 and Silverstones.
    * Towing other 4wd's of other makes up slippery hills
And then there's the sunroof, the vent windows, the dash pod, the soft ride, the, the, the, and finally the i get when I drive it

    My three things:

1: I understand it - well mostly and you guys all definately do!
2: The Rangie drivers out there that always wave.
    3: It has character
    4: The sound
5: My kids can be kids in it - and I don't feel precious about it.

    1/ the sheer un-stoppableness
2/ the character (it plays jeeves to my wooster)
3/ the way it makes driving home a joy rather than a chore

Its size [I drive an LSE]. Its pure Britishness. Its charismatic old English elegance coupled with a timeless, ageless design. And let's not forget that castillated bonnet.
