Aah, Youtube . . . what better way to waste time and get an education all at once.
I don't think you could outdo this mob. They make pretty much every mistake in the book: [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q8lMxYnGIrw&feature=related"]YouTube- VERY professional kinetic rope snatch recovery[/ame]
Lucky lads, :o they don't seem to have learnt anything from the experience though. :(
That one made me shut me eyes. OMG :eek2:
Last time I saw two snatch straps joined by a D-shackle I hid behind the biggest tree I could find. They should only be joined by looping them inside each other (then use rolled up newspaper or a stick to stop them jamming together).
Love the "Watch owt for tow ball com't trew back window" comment. :o
Snatch strap should have warnings - "DON'T JOIN TWO STRAPS WITH A SHACKLE".
A snapped winch cable and a snatch strap and they still didn't keep clear!
that video shows that survival of the fittest is just not working on humans:mad::mad::mad:
That strap should of broken and went through all the bystanders and then through the back window and the schackle embedded in the drivers head.
worst of all they were landrover drivers:bangin::bangin::bangin:
Ive done some dodgey things befor but that is just plain suicide:eek::eek::eek:
I could barely watch at some points, I even felt sick at one stage.
Then I started reading some of the comments - here's one from the guy who did the snatching...
"Also, You can hear the camera man repeatedly telling people to stand clear, although as we saw they whip inline with the vehicles so as long as your a good few car lengths away. The other bonus of using towballs is that they tend to stretch the bolts until the rope will no longer stay on . Anything with a shackle and you end up with a deadly weapon if it breaks off the vehicle. I didnt like putting the shackle in the middle but I thought I needed the length to pull from the flat"
I'm speechless as to the towball stretching part... :o
Dumb, Dumb, Dumb as dog ****. Will say, i once saw a supposedly qualified instructor with a well known japanese branded 4x4 club attach a winch cable to a dead tree on a steepish hill and commence to winch, yes the inevitable happened nearly dropping it on a kid standing nearby.
