As soon as you take any winch under water, warranty void, warn included!!!! Winches need to be serviceable, and if running dyneema rope needs to be pulled out and dry before running back onto the winch after each trip, that's if your serious about gear lasting.

As I said, it must be SERVICEABLE, runva might claim water poof, why do you have to service it as per their document, have a think about it. Any little thing they can get you on they will. People that think you can just put a winch on and forget about it are dreaming, unless it's just there for show, driving around on the road. As said previously, a warranty is useless when your 400km from nearest help!

D2 dave good on ya mate, exactly what I am trying to explain to these guys that obviously are a bit green when it comes to winches when used for serious off-roading and what's required to keep them going. If a winch has been on for years without maintenance, the only way it will still work is if the vehicle has never been offroad. That means, never seen dirt, mud, sand , dust etc.!!

Had winches fail have you? That would be because you didn't look after them...
I've had one fail - was 3 months old, and rain had entered the motor (Warn 9500XP).
Warranty was void.
It's the only time I've had a winch fail.
Oh and as for experience: people send me gear to test. I've had Tmax, Warn, Ironman, Premier, Mile marker and Runva. All tested, write ups etc..
I've tested driving lights, shocks, suspension set ups etc.
But that's ok, keep making assumptions.

Not after an expensive winch that may never get used,when I have the coin I will look for one of those.
