Jaguar Land Rover's (JLR) crack Special Vehicle Operations (SVO) team has whipped the covers off its limited-run, three-door take on the Range Rover, dubbed the Range Rover SV Coupe.*With a proper three-door body, Range Rover*says the SV Coupe the "first full-size luxury SUV coupe" in the world. BMW and Mercedes-Benz have both dipped their toe into the water, sure, but their sloping-roofed four-door crossovers clearly weren't committed enough to the cause for SVO.Although it's clearly related to the regular Rangie, the SV Coupe shares only its bonnet and lower-tailgate with the five-door model. A fresh two-part grille, complete with Brunel Metallic mesh at the rear and Bright Chrome at the front, is housed in a special silver surround. The Range Rover badge is finished in bright chrome and black knurled lettering, while the side vents are finished in a glossy material dubbed Noble Chrome. It's not chintzy, but the SV Coupe will surely stand out, even among the high-end SUV set. Eight exterior colours will be offered, four of which are making their Range Rover debut. There are also four alloy wheel options, ranging from 21- to 23-inches in size.Helping deliver a sense of extra gravitas is an 8mm-lower ride height than the standard Range Rover, dropping to 15mm lower at highway speeds. The standard air suspension has five options inbuilt: Access Height (50mm lower for easy entry), Normal, Off-Road 1 (40mm higher), Off-Road 2 (75mm higher) and the option for another 30-40mm rise over Off-Road 2 for particularly tough obstacles.Inside, Range Rover has taken its basic architecture and cranked the luxury up to the max. The SV is a four-seat proposition, with semi-aniline quilted leather trim inspired by the world of private jets and yachts.Four contrasting interior colour schemes will be offered, including Orchid/Eclipse, Orchid/Vintage Tan, Brogue/Ebony and Cirrus/Lunar.*A range of single-colour trims will also be offered. The front seats are heated and cooled, and can be adjusted 20 ways, while the rears are 10-way adjustable. The leather comes from a tannery founded in 1905, just in case you were wondering.A new 'Nautica' veneer blends walnut and sycamore wood, and is offered alongside Natural Black Ash and Santos Palisander on the options list. Wood is used to accent the steering wheel, door casings, centre console, instrument panel and boot floor too.Fancy trim aside, the interior is very similar to that of the regular Range Rover. That means you get the InControl Touch Pro Duo infotainment and climate control system, a full-colour head-up display, Meridian sound system and a digital driver's instrument panel. As for the engine, Range Rover says the SV Coupe is its fastest-ever offering. Power comes from a 5.0-litre supercharged V8 with 416kW and 700Nm, put to the road through an eight-speed automatic transmission. The 0-100km/h sprint takes 5.3 seconds, and you'll be doing 266km/h flat out.Just 999 examples of the SV Coupe will be built, and each owner will work hand-in-hand with Special Vehicle Operations to personalise their car. Pricing will start at £240,000 ($427,000). Click the photos tab for more images.MORE: Range Rover news, reviews, comparisons and videos
