They're 4.7:1, the same as later ones and I assume they fit. Not a great deal of help am I.
Were series 1 diffs any different to those on S2s and S2as and if so when did they change. Need to know as we seem to have a pretty drastic oil leak in one and happen to have a S2 diff lying around spare.

Apart from the VEP long nose diffs they are all the same
S3 rover diffs fit but be careful you have one for the rear with the fill plug in the housing. Later front diffs didn't have a fill plug in the centre housing.
A trifle hard to fill with oil......... S2 diffs OK

The above information applies if you are talking about the differential, but not if you are using the term differential to apply to the whole axle.
Apart from early 80" and Stage 1 diffs all the Series diffs are interchangeable if not identical.
