Nice one Freo!
Trot down to Narrogin if you feel like it and have a laugh at mine :D
I can help with some spare parts,
Cheers Charlie
Amazing what you learn in such a short time....Chassis number was completely wrong !
Chassis No.is ACTUALLY 36661625 (so '53 it seems)
Eng. No. 36110335
Seems a little more acceptable and in any case not too fussed about that as its still a little beauty ! and that would explain the inverted T grill and external door handles...
So probably leaning towards the 2L now
Hey Charlie might be a little difficult as now relocated to Central Coast NSW !
Need to change my details....I would if I could mate ! :)
Oldies are down that way (Bunbury) and driving over here shortly...there are a few things that I am chasing though, maybe I could PM you and see what they might be able to bring with them ? ;)
hey are you coming to castle hill this year then?
Heya Freosmiths
Here is some info I dug up for you from the Series 1 club in England.... yours in bold italics
1953 models
As 1951 sequence with change of first digit for new model year
Basic model:
Home models 36100001 to 36104122
RHD export 36160001 to 36164007
LHD export 36130001 to 36134613
RHD export, (C.K.D) 36660001 to 36662240
LHD export, (C.K.D) 36630001 to 36637268 incl. Minerva - but without bodywork.
Mobile Welder:
Home models 36300001 to 36300008
RHD export 36360001 to 36360007
LHD export 36330001 to 36330007
The engine, gearbox and front axlenumbers for these models are 36100001 onwards for RHD vehicles and 36130001 onwards for LHD vehicles.
The rear axles are all numbered 36100001 onwards
So a 1953 model - complete knock down kit - RHD export - which is how they came here to Australia - would have been assembled in Sydney, I believe.
The engine, gearbox and front axlenumbers for these models are
36100001 onwards for Right hand drive vehicles and
36130001 onwards for Left hand drive vehicles.
The rear axles are all numbered 36100001 onwards Total 1953 model production, 22272 vehicles. (Includes Minervas)
Total 80" Land Rover production, 82395 vehicles.
So you have an original 80 inch, 2 litre engine! :clap2: Enjoy.
Hi Tony...late September ?
Unfortunately already booked a couple of weeks hols in Tassie with the family so i am gonna miss-out....
I did hear about it but only a couple of weeks back !
would have been a perfect opportunity to chase up bits and speak with people...bugger !
Taking the defender though so still gonna get my landie fix !!:)
no problems have fun in tassie let me know what parts you might need i may be able to help
Hi Tony
main ones for me right now would be gauges, fuel tank (unsure if it is salvageable - need to get to a fabricator to check that), air cleaner assembly, seats !!, ignition switch....
perhaps I can supplement your own restoration hobby !!
no doubt there is more to add to that
cheers
well we need the exact same things
