My 80" has a Series 3 2.25 litre diesel & gearbox in it. Maybe not original, but still Land Rover powered.

    1. No. Even 80" door tops varied.

    2. With great difficulty! Sounds likely your seller got it from the family of the original owner, seeing it was rural, who was probably deceased, but after thirty years even this link is likely to be broken. Someone on here has some of the NSW records, and the British Motor Heritage centre in the UK has most dispatch records from this period - but all this is likely to do is to confirm whether it was sent to Australia.
Point one, yes, I've got some 80in ones that are Just about right shape, but not quite,

Point 2 if anyone has any nsw records it would be good to fill in a few gaps, thanks.

    1954 Series 1

Okay so I just drove 3,000km to pick up this pretty rough 1954 S1. She's all there minus an original engine, but nary a straight panel on the whole vehicle... Not to worry, the chassis and running gear all looks to be pretty good (minus butchered front crossmember) and the bulkhead seems pretty solid minus a small hole in one leg. She'll go into storage for a bit while I sort out somewhere to live and finish the SIIA.

Amarok towed it like a dream, added about 5l/km to the average which was surprisingly low. Will add some more photos before it goes to the storage.

    Wilbur the 86 inch

This is my new 1955 86 inch. His name is Wilbur. He's complete, running, driving and stopping, rust free as far as I can tell, and cosmetically very tidy. He's been given quite a bit of love at some time, but appears to have suffered from neglect more recently. So I have a bit to do to get him all properly sorted. But rego shouldn't be too much of a drama, and once he's on the road I'll just put him to regular use and work through all these things as time permits. I'm a long term Defender but first time series 1 owner, so there's plenty to learn.

I was unable to get any kind of history on this car, only that it came from Victoria. So if anyone thinks they know it and can offer any info I would be grateful.

    Hunter Valley - 1950 Series 1

    Hi all

A few years ago my sons and I did a full restoration on a Series 2. We took it to Cooma and can report that it is now (2022) almost finished.

Bitten by the bug, we have bought another - a 1950 series 1. Photo attached. We are still working on a name, but plan to keep the patina. It hasn't run for 5 to 20 years. All in all, we are just debarking on this project and still scoping out what needs to be done.

    Cheers
    Angus

I fear my landy collection is growing again. Just bought this 109 tray back. Heading off Friday to pick it up. Had a back-to-bare-chassis resto done a few years ago, running a series IIA engine and gearbox. Owner opted to go with the original panels which gives it an interesting look. Needs a little tidy up but is currently registered. Will make a separate thread about it and the ongoing work.

Fixed up (not restored) and with a canvas back, I reckon that would be the most useful Land Rover you'll ever own.
