    Hi

I sadly no longer own this beastie, and these are the only two pics in existence. Very very fond memories though !

MY57 SWB full rebuild around 1973-74 and fitted with Rover V8

    I also have bought a S1

This is my latest addition to my Rover fleet; a 1955 S1 86" in relatively original condition. I have had a few surprises since its arrival in Perth but it is a project for the future to get mechanically & electrically A1. First surprise was that it is fitted with a FoMoCo carby so first job is to source a Solex 32-PBI-2. Has anyone used the new reproduction units available from CP Competition or can recommend another supplier ?
    Cheers H

    Welcome aboard to the forum.

I have a reproduction carby that I sourced locally, I paid a good price for it but was dismayed when I realised after a long wait for it to arrive that I could have brought it oversea's cheaper and had to wait the exact same time to receive it.

If you want, the top cover with the name 'Solex' cast in the top, is interchangeable with the blank top of the aftermarket copy.

What I have read is that the jetting in the copy is designed for the later spread bore 2 litre engine, which should be the same as yours if your engine is still the correct one for that pictured Land Rover build year and the jetting is close enough back to the earliest 1.6 litre engine.

Many Thanks Arthur; she has the original engine so from what you are saying the repo should be fine. Cheers H

    Found this one today

Went to pickup some stuff and the fella said he had an old landy in the back paddock. Apparently he's dad did a conversion to it and fitted a VW engine and SII rear tub in the mid 60's. It's a 1950 model

If its not too far gone, that'd be worth getting going again....

I reckon it'd be a great novelty at show (bring it to a melrose show!)

I wonder if it bolted up to the box etc reasonably easy or if it was a nightmare!! (I could use the front guards though!)
