Easo's S1 when easo was little.

Tried to take her for a drive in the rain this arvo. She is driving really sluggish with little power, I suppose that's what happens when an old machine gets very little attention these days. So I only went about 3-400m as I didn't want a break down and have to tow. Still got some bits turned over.

She needs to go to a mechanic as this is beyond my ability. That could be some time away too. Until then I'll get back into regular static running, oil/ water checks and keep the battery charged.

Might start fixing the little things like mirrors, change coolant, replace seat belts and replace bulbs. Might even break the beads on the split rims and give them a clean up, wire brush and anti seize the bolts.

If it has been sitting for a while with old petrol in it,you were very lucky to even start it! the shelf life of the current type of rubbish that they sell as petrol has a shelf life of between 12 and 16 weeks depending on which brew it is,drain out and it will probably smell like paint thinners and be brown:( also clean the carby out or at least run fresh fuel into it if possible, this is a major problem with vintage vehicles now, and it has come to the attention of many Qld members that 10% Ethenol is hydroscopic (attracts water) and it then rusts vintage tanks out,let alone eating rubber components :(

There is defiantly a fair amount of mechanical work to get her back to good running standard.
She need the carbie rebuild, dizzy rebuild and whatever I haven't found yet.

Comes down to time and $$$$$$, first job is to get the W/shop trailer ready for Corowa.

Hi All

Whatever you do dont get that old fuel on your skin, the smell doesn't want to come out. :oops2:

I got caught when rather than wasting the old petrol, I used it to wash some parts, Ohh Poo!!!!! :(

Hi Easo

Before you go to the mechanic, I suggest you have a go for yourself .

Oil and filter; change with a oil of recommended viscosity for your ambient temperature range.

Plugs; check the gap, look for oil around the ceramic insulation, may need hotter plugs until the motor settles down.

leads and distributor cap; look for perished or cracked insulation, have a look also at night with the motor running and lights turned off, some motor have quite a display of sparks.

Points, rotor button and condenser; change for new ones and keep old ones as spares.

Fuel pump; learn how to reset the diaphram in the electric fuel pump before you head out bush, it is a easy fix that only needs a flat blade screwdriver and a stick the size of a match.

Clean the gauze fuel filters, including the one on the end of the pickup in the tank, up under the top of the body for glass bowl filter and the sneaky one where the fuel line goes into the carby. :)

That little list should keep you quite for the afternoon. :D

Question on ther buggy. The pass side filler is removed and covered. Did they run two tanks and has been removed, was a post service mod or ???

since it is Zulu Delta 534's he would be best to answer, but in short it still has 2 tanks they are filled under the seat like a series 1 has to be because the windscreens sit behind the seats in brackets when required so filler hose had to be removed:)

If you look at the other photos I posted of Jack you will notice the same on the drivers side:)
