Yes, it is definitely a S1 (body - other than the roof over the rear) - obviously altered (S2 109 chassis), but that is the base of the vehicle. Interesting mod positioning the gear knob.

If the rear springs are attached to the chassis rail it's a S1 chassis, if they are attached to outriggers it's a S 2 chassis. Unless that has been modified as well.
The bumper bar looks S1.
I have heard several stories from the original builder in the past of being pulled over by the police in the 1960's for speeding only to be let off as an old landrover couldn't possibly go that fast. Little did they know it was fitted with a potent rover car 6cyl engine. Also reputed to have driven up the long local university entry steps several times. The gentleman who built it kept it until the late 1990's and drove it daily.

Try this one: Military Lightweight Land Rover
hey everyone.... went and had a better look at this vehicle on saturday
my god... it's been heavily modified and unfortunately there's not many usable parts left on it
we didnt try to get it running... but as far as we can see there's probably 4 usable doors... 2 on the car with 2 in the back and a spare door top
dont think diffs are series 1... they may be usable
The chassis does not appear to be in good shape, it has quite a bit of rust in and around the rear cross member, and its heavily caked in grime so you wouldnt know how bad it really is underneath. bulkhead also has a fair bit of rust in it.
its was originally a series 1 107" ute that was lengthened by using parts of a 60 model series 2 chassis. (Hence why it has the series 1 outrigger) The chassis also has a section added in front of the bulkhead, and both the guards and bonnet have been lengthened about 6 inches. Its obvious the bonnet has been lengthened, but you have to look very closely to see the addition to the guards. The roof is a series 1 front section the back section is all custom made.
he wants $990 for it and said he wasnt interested in budging on the price..... MUCH !!!!
