I remember seeing this vehicle many years ago up near Nelson's Bay.

It is a 107 or 109 (probably 109 if the chassis is s2 but that alloy front rad panel is early) ute with a cut down rear tray and LOTS of homemade mods. John did do a good job though and it was all very neat. Would have been a wild vehicle in its day!

The roof is an S1 cab roof which has had the rear removed and extended to full length, hence the cut down rear tub so the side panels all line up.

The bumper is S1 with a later capstan fitted, did you get the chassis number from the chassis or the plate on the bulkhead? In the third picture you have posted the bulkhead chassis outrigger looks to be curved suggesting chassis might be S1 after all. Its much easier to change a chassis plate for a vehicle that already has a six in it than change a chassis or get one complied.... Im sure it used to happen a lot....

we got the chassis number off the old rego label, last rego date was 2003.
the vin we got is 15200000A3. we checked with CALVIN and got

    1________Type: Land Rover
    52_______Model: Land Rover, Series II
    _________Body type: Basic
_________Wheel base: 109in (Long Wheel Base, LW
    _________Engine: Petrol
    _________Destination: Right-hand drive (RHD), export
    0________Model year: 1960
    0000A____Serial number

it doesnt work with the 3 on the end ! so dont know what that means

by the looks its a series 1 "modified" body, on a series 2 chassis
we'll be having a much closer look this weekend and hopefully taking more pics

im farely sure i remember seeing the chassis outrigger under the drivers foot well and it was curved. i remember looking under there when i tried to check out the lever neer the front r/h corner of the drivers seat area.... very strange... suspect its the overdrive that dinty mentioned.

couldnt find a plate on the bulk head. there is a plate that has been painted over where you would normaly find the glove box ?

plate on fire wall above transmission tunnel isnt there !

when we go and have a look this weekend we'll have a better look. hes going to pull it out of the shed so we can have a better look at it and see whats original, whats been modified and whats been butchered

From memory a rover car 6 cylinder engine fitted to a borg warner auto gearbox and landy trnsfer case. It may also have rover car or rangie diff centres to lower engine rpm and improve cruising speeds. It is possible it also has power steering fitted, though it has been a long time since I have seen this vehicle. It was built in the 60's by and genuine landrover guru.

    Series 11?

    Hi
    It is not a Series11
    do your homework again
it looks as if it may be a 109 with non L/R made rear top
I heard some where, a Queensland mob made them
    may be one of them
some will be able to tell you what it is
    cheers

Pedals through floor not hinged from firewall would point to series one.

Definitely S1 as it has slab sides. And by the looks is a 109.
