In NSW you can form your own Incorporated club and set up a permit scheme. After 2 years of being formed the club can self scrutineer. A "club" I heard of was just made up of members from the one family, ie The Brown Family Car Club.
Not sure how simple or costly it is but it may be something to consider.

The Merc club allows one non-Mercedes to be put on the club permit scheme per membership. When the time comes, one of my 101's will be put on this scheme trrough the Merc Club.
I'm sure if there were enough requests from the membership, most clubs would allow club registration for different marques.
Perhaps a non-marque specific club would be the go.
