80" ?49 is it worth it?

many know I am partial to a few different types of landy...

the s1, the ex mil swb s2a, the gunbuggy (MMM THE GUNBUGGY!) but I was attracted to the marque originally by the appearance of a 80" s1.

    (everyone knows them! )
I have the chance to obtain one I am advised is a 49, it is rough and so although Im keen Im unsure..

Im after an idea of a good price, Im sure the seller isnt trying to rip me off, (he is a good bloke and straight as a die) BUT is this a reasonable price or should I wait?

    photos follow:-

firewall is shot, not sure about chassis (neither is he!)
will come with front panels etc, a ringpull or push button "AUTO" gearbox/transfer case and 2l motor (running) probably from a '54 model.

will look at what else is needed (eg 4 correct rims) and add as he can, has extra dashes with dials and steering wheels, ..

asking $1350 ... I also have negotiated for an allegedly rustfree firewall from a 49 for under $500..

so-what do you think, is it worth it?

Not worth it. Let me know where it is and I'll dispose of the rubbish in a suitable manner. I'll just go and hitch up the trailer.

From the photo it doesn't look to be in pristine condition. Does it have mechanicals? Does it run? Does it drive?

I've been looking around for a S1 myself. The type I am after would be a reasonably complete going, running example. The ones I have been looking at have been getting three, four, five thousand plus.
The ones requiring much more work have still been getting in the thousand dollars plus.
I've got my eye on a very early one without a roof. It requires some work but most of it is there. The current owner is hinting about the $4k mark but won't commit to selling. I think it might be worth it.
There are a couple of restored ones (Unique Cars magazine and The Healey Factory) for around $25k.

    Always willing to help!
From what I've seen, I think that is about right. See if you can get the bulkhead thrown in for free.
