Series rego and insurance

I insure all my vehicles with RACQ Classic and Veteran, Vintage Insurance as they are all on club rego currently. It's not badly priced.

But Might not be as cheap as Shannons but at least they are willing to give us young blokes a Fair Go. Shannons won't touch me and that makes my mind up! Never to touch them ever!

Yeh fair enough. We have all our house, and other cars with RACQ, and I was surprised they re insured my new vehicle after paying out on a wright off I had with them.
I got a quote on Lucky, but they won't do comprehensive as a daily driver, only as club rego. However they had a troubling statement at the end of our conversation regardless. They would insure for agreed value or market value, and pay which ever was the lesser.

Might be worth checking you have bought what you thought you have.

Shannons are definitely the go with your Series 1 - and all you need do is contact them 6 months down the track - tell them you've restored it some, and wish to insure it for it's correct price.

Mine is insured for $15,500 - I paid $6000.00, which was it's original insured sum based on purchase price! (took an inspection but no dramas - your's won't either) ;)

Not bad.

I know of people that have insured with NRMA/RACQ Series Ones fully restored - Insured for $19,000-$21,000 agreed value.

My best advise is shop around! It can't hurt and costs nothing to look does it!

At the end of the day it's who you feel provides the best price, service and deal. I don't really care i just find it easier to go with the company's that also provide CTP as you can get CTP discount on RACQ, NRMA, etc etc even if its only $10 (buy more LR bits money!) but i am yet to see AAI Insurance (Shannons) provide a CTP on my Rego Renewal....

We get a deal as not only the S1, but both our other vehicles, are covered. Along with our house - including full flood insurance. Along with our expensive bicycles.

No other insurance company could match shannons' price. My S1 alone costs $85.00/ annum for $15500.00 comprehensive - and I'd get the wreck.

Yeah - shop around, who wouldn't, but they do a great deal for our household.

You highlight an important aspect - Shannons are not good for my 101 being 20 years later than the series 1s - no wreck retention and premiums 50% more than Lumley Special Vehicles (different from Lumley's Insurance). Different insurance companies emphasise different aspects.

Ahh that explains why Lumley's were what they were. I falsely thought with Lumley insuring old cars they would be similar, but no for a S1.
