    just bought 2 series 1's

    Hello 1 and all, always wanted a piece of LR history so I have purchased/saved two series one's from the bush....... The first is a '58 shorty complete car and running/driveable and a '55 107 which has alot missing, but does have the original enginegreat chassis and no rust in the bulkhead.
    So what do I need to look for in these old girls????

    I suggest a couple of days reading the Series 1 section of this forum would be a good start!

    If you then post some descriptions and preferably photos of them in that section, this will bring you a lot of helpful advice. Without this, it is very difficult to even know where to start on "So what do I need to look for?". You already know some of the key problems with your comment on the chassis and bulkhead.

    Hi Russell,

    Welcome and hope you enjoy fixing up your series 1's.

    I had a 55, 107" - great truck. You have a good start with no rust in chassis and bulkhead. With patience and aulro advice you will have a great resource to bring it back to life....(oh yeah and a few weeks pocket money!)

    Russel, some good advice mentioned here already. I think definitely start reading, I sure did.

    Aulro Series I section you have found
    Series One Club in the UK, you don't have to join, only register to get access.
    Some good books available from the library or purchase are James Taylor's Original Land Rover, and Land Rover the Formative Years 1947 - 1967 by John Smith.

    Don't let these guys fool you, I am only the custodian of my 107, my uncle put the hard work in, I just tinker.

    Good luck and don't be scared to ask, when I find myself the 86 I'm after I be in your shoes. Overwhelmed, but also very exciting.

    Thanks for the advice and help so far ok first problem, the shorty has no clutch pedal???? I have worked out that it is not a hydraulic system but that's it.....Help please
